🩵 Tip of the Week: Should You Run When You’re Sick?

We’ve all been there — a sore throat or stuffy nose hits, and you’re wondering if that run is a good idea or a bad one. Here’s how to tell:

👃 The “Neck Rule” — If symptoms are above the neck (like a mild cold, nasal congestion, or sneezing), an easy run is usually okay. Just keep the pace easy and stay hydrated.

🤒 Below the neck or fever? Skip the run. Chest congestion, body aches, fever, or fatigue are signs your body needs full rest to recover — pushing through can make things worse.

💧 Listen to your body. If you feel worse after starting, stop and rest. You’ll bounce back faster by giving your immune system the energy it needs.🩺

Remember: consistency is built on smart choices — not running through sickness. 🩵

🎧 Podcast of the Week: “The Science-Backed Guide to Periodizing Your Exercise” by Random Fit

In this eye-opening episode of Random Fit (powered by NASM), hosts Ken Miller and Wendy Batts walk you through how to structure—or “periodize”—your training across cycles for maximum gains, smarter recovery, and reduced injury risk. They dig into the science behind planning intensity, volume, and rest in sync with your goals, whether you're prepping for a race or just trying to stay consistent.

It’s a smart listen for anyone ready to move past guesswork and build a thoughtful, sustainable running (or fitness) strategy.
